more culture
Tonight, April 20th, I went with Esperanza to hear the Orquesta Sinfónica de Cuenca (Cuenca Symphony Orchestra). It really was wonderful--held in the old Cathedral, a beautiful building (construction for this building began in 1557); fantastic acoustics, an awe-inspiring setting. The conductor was from Holland & there was a very talented Ecuadorian violinist. Hearing music composed by Schumann, Dvorák, and others was a wonderful way to spend a Friday night, something that I couldn't do when I had my previous job because I always taught until 8 PM. The fact that I have to teach from 8:30 to 12:30 tomorrow (Saturday) morning right now feels like a small compromise........
